Scene from the documentary Please Listen to Me by Marianna Economou

Please listen to me

Costa’s deep desire to go to a mainstream high school rather than a special school, exposes how differently people comprehend, experience and respond to his physical disability. The film follows the psychological anguish, dilemmas and conflicts this choice sparks - a question that for Costa defines the very essence of his identity in relation to himself and others. “If I fall, I have the strength to get up. Please allow me to be responsible for myself,” he pleads.
